Corner Bakery Cafe Signs Agreement for Five Kansas City Locations
Kansas City Restaurants Expected to Add 100 Area Jobs
04/10/2012 – Dallas (Restaurant News Release) – Corner Bakery Cafe, the fast-growing bakery cafe franchise serving made-to-order food served for breakfast, lunch or dinner, has signed an agreement that will bring the restaurant brand to Kansas City. Cafe Foods, Inc. will open five Corner Bakery Cafe locations in Kansas City over the next five years, the first of which is scheduled to open in Overland Park in early 2013.
The agreement was signed by Cafe Foods, Inc., which is managed by local partners Frank Westermajer, Steven Barrett, Ronald Damiana, and Wayne Glasser. The group currently owns and operates 31 Hardee’s franchised restaurants through another company, Westar Foods/West Partners, Inc.
“I’m confident that Corner Bakery Cafe will thrive in Kansas City,” said Westermajer. “When you consider the young, professional and active culture throughout this area, I truly believe Corner Bakery Cafe is a perfect match.”
Founded on a philosophy of creating a place to relax and gather with family and friends, Corner Bakery Cafe offers a casual atmosphere featuring innovative, seasonal menu options ranging from hot breakfasts and signature panini to handcrafted salads, sandwiches and mouthwatering sweets. Corner Bakery Cafe delivers a premier bakery cafe experience in the hearts of neighborhoods everywhere.
Since being acquired by Roark Capital Group in 2011, Corner Bakery Cafe has reenergized its national expansion plans through franchising, with plans to double the brand’s presence in the next three years. The new Kansas City restaurants will help boost the local economy by adding an additional 100 jobs into the market.
“As we grow our brand portfolio and look to emerge in new markets, there are a lot of factors to consider,” said Mike Hislop, CEO of Corner Bakery Cafe. “In terms of demographics, traffic, accessibility, and marketability, Kansas City is a home run on all fronts.”
