Schwan's Home Service Names Mike Gerend President

07/22/2011 - Marshall, MN - Mike Gerend will join The Schwan Food Company on Aug. 22 as President of Schwan’s Home Service, Inc. Gerend brings with him years of experience in finance, marketing, executive management and operational roles from multiple industries.
As President of Schwan’s Home Service, Gerend will be responsible for the strategic direction and growth of a Schwan subsidiary that is the largest direct-to-home provider of frozen foods in the United States. He has demonstrated success in leading operationally complex businesses in multiple industries and has shown a commitment to meeting the needs of customers,” said Greg Flack, CEO, President and Chief Operating Officer of The Schwan Food Company. “His experience will be invaluable in our efforts to continually enhance the products and services we offer to millions of families throughout America.”
Gerend most recently served as the President and Chief Operating officer of Life Time Fitness, a health and fitness company with approximately 19,000 employees throughout the United States. He has also served as president and chief executive officer of Champion Air and worked at Northwest Airlines in a range of finance, marketing and operational roles, including the management of functions such as scheduling and capacity planning, pricing, yield management, marketing and cost control.
Gerend received his bachelor’s degree in business from Notre Dame and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin.
