Merle Lindsey Named Interim Executive Director for Oregon Liquor Control Commission
10/26/2012 – Last night, during the monthly meeting of The Commissioners of the Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC), there was a unanimous vote to appoint Deputy Director Merle Lindsey as Interim Executive Director.
The appointment followed Steve Pharo’s announcement that he will retire from the Oregon Liquor Control Commission as Executive Director. Lindsey will immediately assume the responsibilities of Executive Director while the OLCC Commissioners seek a permanent replacement.
Lindsey began his career at the OLCC in 1983 as supervising accountant in Fiscal Services. Over the last 29 years, he has held several executive leadership positions, his most recent being Deputy Director. OLCC Chair, Cassandra Skinner says “Merle has proven leadership at the Commission and we know that he is the right person to ease the transition while we fill the position permanentl.”
“I really appreciate OLCC’s managers and directors, but it is the hard work and the professionalism of the staff that move our mission forward every day,” says Lindsey. “I look forward to working with staff and our external partners through this change in leadership.”
