SHOPPERS President Tim Lowe Accepts New Role at SUPERVALU
05/15/2012 – Minneapolis (Business Wire) – SUPERVALU INC. (NYSE: SVU) today announced that Tim Lowe, current president of SHOPPERS, will join the company’s merchandising organization as senior vice president, reporting to Janel Haugarth, executive vice president of merchandising and logistics. Lowe will transition to this role over a period of time, continuing to also lead SHOPPERS until a new president is named. Kevin Holt, the recently named executive vice president of retail operations, will identify a replacement for Lowe at a later date.
“Tim is an energetic and passionate leader who will join an already strong merchandising leadership team,” said Haugarth. “His operations and retail leadership experience will enable him to ensure alignment between merchandising and operations, and other functional and store level groups.”
Lowe will focus on enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of merchandising while driving execution of national programs. Merchandising, produce and banner merchants will report to Lowe’s team.
With nearly 20 years of retail experience, Lowe first joined SUPERVALU in 2009 as the senior vice president of operations at SHOPPERS. He assumed his current post in 2010. Prior to SUPERVALU, he also worked at Burlington Coat Factory as senior vice president of operations and spent five years with Meijer Inc., where he was promoted to the role of vice president of general merchandise for retail stores. He also spent seven years with Wal-mart.
“Merchandising continues to focus on many top priorities, driving sales and bringing many important programs to life,” said Haugarth. “I am confident that the addition of Tim to Merchandising will further position us for success.”
